Directed
Light’s laser systems enable us to handle
cutting, drilling, marking, and welding applications
in all materials. We have:
Nd:YAG cutting and drilling systems
from 50W to 400W.
Nd:YAG welding systems including
glove-boxes from 250W to 400W. Both fixed optic
and fiber delivered systems available.
CO2 cutting and drilling systems
from 150W to 1kW.
50W Nd:YAG marking system.
Doubled Nd:YAG (532nm) Q-switch
cutting system.
All Directed Light laser systems
have integrated linear motor tables with CNC control.
Systems are either X-Y or X-Y-Z motion and a rotary
axis is quickly integrated into any of our systems
when needed. We can automatically convert your
AutoCad or SolidWorks part drawings to G code
programs for use by the motion systems.
Feature sizes:
Motion System resolution equal to .1 µm
Kerf widths as small as 20µm
Percussive holes drilled as small as 25µm
Trepanned holes as small as 50µm
Secondary Operations
available:
Heat Treating
Wafer edge rounding
Electro-polishing
Deburring
Inspection and Testing
capabilities:
Gross and fine Helium leak detection
Torque testing
Our dimensional inspection equipment is regularly
calibrated and traceable to NIST. Mechanical inspection
equipment includes calipers, micrometers, height
gauges, dial indicators, and pin gauges. Non-contact
inspection includes a toolmaker’s microscope
and optical comparator.
Quality System:
Directed Light’s Quality
system is based on MIL-I-45208A. Our equipment
calibration system follows MIL-STD 45662A. Copies
of our Quality Manual are available on request.
Directed Light is on target for ISO-9001 registration
in 2007. Process records for each job are retained
for a minimum of three and up to seven years,
depending on customer requirements.
Statistical Process Control is used
extensively during both welding and cutting jobs.
Control Charts are maintained for laser power
output for repeat and long running jobs. Our real
time SPC software provides both variable and attribute
histograms, control charts, and Cpk data for our
customers.
Each cut, drilled, or marked
part undergoes a first article dimensional and
visual inspection, in-process dimensional and
visual inspection, and a final visual inspection.
Welded parts undergo first article and in-process visual inspections. Hermetically welded parts are He
leak tested. Per customer requirements weld strength
can be measured using torque or pull tests. All
orders are shipped with a Certificate of Compliance.
